About Blackwater Mine

Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 70 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline. 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Technology Supervisor to join Whitehaven Coal. As the Technology Supervisor you will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of preventative maintenance and break down repairs of our Operational Technology systems at Blackwater mine.

  • Provide frontline supervision of the Operational Technology teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safe working standards.
  • Develop and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Seek continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • RIIRIS301 / RIIWHS301 / RIICOM301 (formerly S1, S2, S3)
  • RIIRIS402 (formerly G2)
  • Previous Mining Experience within technology or similar environment.
  • A willingness to learn and develop skills in all areas of mining technology and people leadership.
  • High level of computer literacy and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A strong commitment to team building and development.
