About Blackwater Mine:
Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline.About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join The Whitehaven Coal family. Our Maintenance Superintendent oversee all activities related to haulage equipment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety standards are met or exceeded.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure maintenance activities prioritise safety, through; effective hazard identification, risk management, encourage proactive work to reduce need for potential high-risk tasks and focus on quality assurance to minimise exposure of maintenance personnel to hazardous tasks.
- Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported, and are followed up correctly to minimise and manage risk and oversee investigations where required, ensuring that the relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
- Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring, and developmental activities to members of the team driving a positive workplace culture that reflects Whitehaven Principles.
- Collaborate with site management to address maintenance-related challenges and optimize equipment performance
- Ensure work order feedback and closeouts are completed accurately to improve maintenance efficiencies.
- Implement and contribute to preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
What You’ll Bring
- RIIRIS301 / RIIWHS301 / RIICOM301 (formerly S1, S2, S3)
- RIIRIS402 (formerly G2)
- Minimum of five (5) years in the mining or heavy industry or processing plant with strong working knowledge of Maintenance, Planning and CMMS
- Ability to adhere and live the Whitehaven Values and contribute to a collaborative organisational culture
- Current Unencumbered “C” Class Drivers Licence
- Strong leadership skills
